Update: 6 Vehicle Burglaries on Westview, Suspect Charged

Police have a suspect in custody after a call to Geneva Street Thursday morning.

Update: William E. Hately, 18, of Woodridge was charged with one count of felony burglary, theft and criminal damage to property after allegedly committing a string of vehicle break-ins Wednesday night. 

Deputy Chief Gina Grady told Patch that Hately is suspected of breaking in to six vehicles on Westview Lane.

He will be transported to Dupage County Jail and is slated to appear in bond court either Thursday evening or Friday morning.

Police are asking residents to lock the doors of their vehicles to avoid similar crimes from occurring.

"We think most [vehicles] were unlocked," said Gardy of this particular incident. "If we can get the message out: Residents should park in their drive way, lock their doors and remove all valuables from sight."

Original Story: Woodridge Police are investigating a string of motor vehicle break-ins after a call to the 8000 block of Geneva Street around 10 a.m. Thursday morning. 

"We are currently conducting interviews and the matter is under investigation as we speak," Deputy Chief Gina Grady told Patch. "We do have a person in custody who might be responsible."
