Woodridge Police Cracking Down on Drunken Drivers

Now through New Year's Day, Woodridge police will dispatch additional officers to monitor for impaired drivers.

The Woodridge Police Department announced earlier this week that it will be conducting special patrols over the holidays to crack down on drunken drivers.  

Police dispatched additional personnel to monitor for impaired drivers starting Dec. 17, and it will continue through New Year's Day. 

“The holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends. Everyone has the right to be safe on the roads,” Sgt. Bill Hoogland said in a news release.

Hoogland said police will add extra patrols from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., high-traffic hours for impaired drivers.

The police department offered the following tips for safe driving around the holidays:

  1. Plan ahead and arrange for a designated driver
  2. Use public transportation
  3. If you see someone who is impaired, take their keys away and assist them in getting home safely
  4. Always buckle up when you are in the car.
