Woodridge Police Report String of Car Burglaries, Windows Smashed

Woodridge police reports, April 24-27

A string of vehicle burglaries and smashed car windows were reported between April 24 and 27, according to Woodridge police reports.

Four incidents were reported in which car windows were smashed and items were stolen, including a car radio, a case containing CDs and three GPS units. There were four more incidents in which car windows were cracked or smashed, but no items were taken.

Kate Croteau, management analyst for the Woodridge Police Department, said department detectives are looking into the incidents and monitoring pawn shops for any missing items. She also said personnel from the department's tactical unit are focusing on the areas where the crimes happened.

Sunday, April 24

Theft from car reported

Someone smashed the passenger side window of a car and removed the radio and a case containing CDs between noon April 24 and 5 a.m. April 25 in the 7500 block of Orchard Lane, police said.

Tuesday, April 26

Car windows smashed, cracked

  • Someone smashed the driver's side window of a vehicle and stole a GPS unit between 2 p.m. April 25 and 7:30 a.m. April 26 in the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue, police said.
  • Someone cracked the driver's side window of a car in two places around 1 a.m. in the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue, police said.
  • Someone smashed the rear window of a car and took a GPS unit around 5:10 a.m. in the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue, police said.
  • Someone smashed the rear window of a car around 7 a.m. in the 7300 block of Woodward Avenue, police said.
  • Someone smashed the passenger side window of a vehicle between 3 p.m. April 25 and noon April 26 in the 8400 block of Andrea Lane, police said.
Wednesday, April 27

Car windows smashed

  • Someone smashed the back window of a car around 1 p.m. in the 7600 block of Woodward Avenue, police said.
  • Someone smashed the passenger side window of a car and removed a GPS unit and a wallet around 9 p.m. in the 6500 block of Middlecoff Court, police said.
