Woodridge Police to Perform Roadside Safety Checkpoints

The will be conducting a roadside safety checkpoint on St. Patrick's Day.

Roadside safety checkpoints are conducted to promote the safety and well-being of the motoring public and to provide a deterrent for those who might violate the Illinois Vehicle Code, according to a police release.

Police will check for those who are operating a motor vehicle with defective equipment, driving without a valid driver’s license, non compliance with the safety seat belt laws, operating uninsured vehicles or driving under the influence of any intoxicating substance.

The location and hours were not announced, but they were chosen to "provide maximum opportunity for the detection and apprehension of motorists who may drive under the influence," the release said.
