Candidate Questions

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?

I have been a resident of Woodridge since 1983.  I want to bring about a breath of fresh air to Woodridge.  This is my second run for mayor.  I ran in 1996. I received approximately 1,600 votes against Mayor Murphy's approximately 2,100.  It clearly proved that residents were looking for a change.

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?

To establish term limits for offices of mayor and trustees.  Two terms (8 yrs) would be ideal.  No one should be mayor again for 32 years.  Also, to promote friendly and receptive environments for the residents to come forward and participate at all levels of community involvement.

If your race is contested, what sets you apart from the other candidates?

I am not part of any group or faction.  I have not nor will I accept or solicit any contributions from any source.  If elected I will not be beholden to any group or individual.

What do you think are the top 3 goals for the Village of Woodridge?

To reduce/maintain property taxes for homeowners.  Retired homeowners are being forced to move due to continuous increase of property taxes. Develop programs to increase the participation of retired people. There are many retired people with skills and experience who can pass these on to young people in need of guidance and learning.

Have a volunteer program to assist in the daily care and companionship of elderly or housebound residents.

Encourage residents to recycle ALL recyclable materials, especially businesses.

What are some ways to promote economic development in the village?

"Re-examine and re-evaluate incentives given to businesses that relocate to Woodridge.  Tax rebates and other initial inducements should be formulated, not with short-term profits, but long lasting, permanent benefits.Work to bring in new businesses to the community."

Are there any new services or programs Woodridge should try to offer?

Have a volunteer program to assist in the daily care and companionship of the elderly or housebound.
