2013 Election: Woodridge Residents Running for Mayor and More

The filing period for municipal elections ended Dec. 26 for the April 9, 2013 election. Here’s who’s filed.

Woodridge Village Board

Open Seats: Along with the office of mayor, the office of village clerk and three of the Woodridge trustees have terms expire in 2013. The three are Joseph Kagann, Gina, Cunnigham-Picek and Pamela Beavers.

Term Length: 4 years

Who's Filed: Four people have filed for mayor: current trustee Gina Cunningham-Picek, as well as Gregory Abbott, Mike Krucek and Ferenc Vandor. Trustee Joe Kagann withdrew his petition, according to The Bugle.

Six people have filed for three trustee’s seats: Joe Kagann, Louis Wardin, Pam Beavers, Joe Schager, Sue Burtnette and Tim Goodwin.

Eileene Nystrom has filed for the office of clerk in Woodridge.

District 58 School Board

Open Seats: 4

Term Length: 4 years

Who's Filed: In Downers Grove Grade School District 58, three incumbents and one newcomer have filed for the board's four open seats, according to Board Secretary Pam Osika.

Board Member John B. Cooper Jr., Vice President Sallie Ann Lupescu and newcomer James Paul all filed simultaneously at 8 a.m. Board Member Roberta Diehl also filed Monday. A lottery will be held Dec. 27 to determine ballot positions for the first three candidates, Osika said.

The other seat up for election is currently held by Board President Stephen Funk, who has yet to file paperwork. Cooper, Lupescu and Funk were first elected in 2009, while Diehl has served since 2011.

District 99 School Board

Open Seats: 4

Term Length: 4 years

Who's Filed: Deborah “Debbie” Boyle (incumbent), Martin Gorski, Henry P. Jakobsze, Teresa “Terry” K. Pavesich (incumbent), Julia Kennedy Beckman (incumbent) and Rick Pavinato. William “Bill” White (incumbent) filed to remove his name from the ballot and will not seek re-election.

District 68 School Board

Open Seats: 3

Term Length: 4 years

Who's Filed: Thomas A. Ruggio, Jeffrey Cortez and Brian Rychlec

Woodridge Park District Board

Open Seats:

Term Length: 4 years

Who's Filed: Board President Fred Hohnke and commissioner Brian P. Coleman have filed for re-election.

Woodridge Library Board

Open Seats: 2

Term Length: 6 years

Who's Filed: Incumbents Loren Jay Tiede and John Majewski.

Darien-Woodridge Fire District

Who's Filed: Incumbents Sharon Cattaneo and Robert Klein

Lisle Township

Open Seats: Eight candidates will be elected. There are contested races for township clerk and four seats on the Board of Trustees. Uncontested races include township supervisor, assessor and highway commissioner.

Who's Filed: Running uncontested are Richard J. Tarulis for township supervisor, John D. Trowbridge II for assessor and Charles B. Clarke for highway commissioner. All three listed their party affiliation as Republican in county election paperwork. Republican Robert J. Klaeren II and will Democrat Alice Wilson face off in the contested race for township clerk.

Eight candidates are running for four spots on the Township Board of Trustees. Lisle is represented by candidates K. "Sharon" Connell (R), Ed Young (R), Michael E. Riedy (R) and Tony Fuscone (D). Republican Michael A. Tams lives in Naperville, while Democrats Sookyung "Soo" Chang, Kaleshia "Kay" Page and Anna Schiefelbein are all Woodridge residents.
