Approximately $125,000 of Unclaimed Property on Auction Block

The state can't find the rightful owners so items from gold bracelets to Beanie Babies are being sold.

Starting at 10 a.m. Monday, the state will accept bids on 15,256 pieces of property being auctioned off in the Illinois Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Auction. The items were stored in bank security deposit boxes and turned over to the state because the items' rightful owners have not come forward to claim them in more than five years.

The 2011 online unclaimed property auction will continue until 6 p.m. Dec. 11. The value of the items is estimated at approximately $125,000.
