Could Video Gambling Come to Woodridge?

Darien has it. If several village trustees have their way, Woodridge could soon allow video gambling in certain organizations and establishments.

Several Woodridge trustees said they likely would vote to lift a ban on video gambling that’s been in place since 2010 but will need more information before taking any action, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Business owners have asked for for repeal, which they say is driving customers to other suburbs, according to the report.

Darien and Westmost allow gambling using video games in truck stops, fraternal organizations and other liquor-licensed establishments, according to reports.

A provision in Illinois’ video gambling law, which was approved in May 2009, allowed communities to opt out and create local bans on the gambling devices.
