Don't Be Alarmed: Police Training at Pine Ridge Developments from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday

Officers will be in full uniform training in how to respond to an active shooter incident.

If you see some police action at the Pine Ridge development Wednesday, don't be alarmed.

The Woodridge Police Department is participating in Rapid Deployment Training in two vacant housing complexes within the development from 4 to 8 p.m., according to a village press release.

The buildings are located at 8079 and 8081 Janes Avenue. The two buildings are unoccupied and will be demolished later this spring.

During this training, anyone walking past or driving can expect to see officers in full training gear.

The training helps officers prepare for how to handle an active shooter incident. "The first responding officers use Rapid Deployment techniques to enter the location of the active shooting incident to locate and neutralize the threat," the release said.
