Liquor, Tobacco Licenses Suspended after Businesses Sell to Underage Patrons

Two businesses, a gas station and a liquor store, were called to a tobacco and alcohol violation hearing Thursday.

Underage special agents of the busted a Woodridge gas station and liquor store when the businesses sold them tobacco and alcohol last month. 

Both businesses appeared at a tobacco and alcohol violation hearing Thursday. 

, 7500 Lemont Rd., sold tobacco to a 15-year-old without asking for his identification on Nov. 1. The gas station's tobacco license will be suspended from Dec. 23 to 25.

, 2019 87th St., sold alcohol to a 20-year-old on Nov. 15 without asking for his identification. Its liquor license will be suspended from Jan. 6 to 8. 

Both businesses will also be required to cover all costs and fees from the court process, including the village attorney, prosecuting attorney and court reporter.

There were about five such violation hearings in Woodridge in 2011, according to Jack Knight, management analyst for . At each hearing, there were two to three alleged violations, he said.
