Mad as Hell? Sound Off to Your State Leaders

Don't just yell, says Reboot Illinois. Sound Off via a new citizen engagement tool that will make it easier than ever to share your views on our state's problems.

Want to sound off on the myriad problems plaguing the state of Illinois and have your point of view delivered to your local lawmakers and state leaders? Patch's friends at Reboot Illinois have created a new tool that instantly connects concerned citizens with their elected officials.

With a few mouse clicks, Sound Off will create an email on any one of several key reform topics. Once a topic is selected and a reader types in his or her address, an email with suggested language about that specific issue displays. The user then can send that email to state politicians.

"We started Reboot Illinois last year because we knew our home state was in dire straits," writes Reboot Illinois CEO Madeleine Doubek in her blog today. "We believe if enough of us act together, we can change Illinois, for good."

The Sound Off tool can be found and launched on the Reboot Illinois home page as well as within articles. The tool will also be accessible on your local Patch.

After sending, the user can share on Facebook and Twitter that he or she used Sound Off with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers, urging them to do the same.

“Sound Off connects people with their politicians. It uniquely empowers people, giving them a stronger voice in our government. As Illinoisans learn more about our critical challenges around pensions, taxes, unemployment, schools and corruption, we strongly believe they will be charged up and moved to act," Doubek said. "Sound Off enables citizen action at the height of citizen concern and allows the people’s voices to be heard.”
