Connect to your Community, the title of Woodridge’s Town Meeting Open House this year, will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Bobak’s Signature Events, 6440 Double Eagle Dr.
The evening begins with information tables staffed by representatives of Village departments, school districts, fire protection districts, the Woodridge Park District, and the Woodridge Public Library.
Participants are free to roam from table to table during the Open House, and take advantage of the available handouts and opportunities to speak with representatives. Parents are welcome to bring their children - activity stations will be available. In addition, participants are welcome to come and go as they please during the event.
Handouts and giveaways will be provided to attendees, and new this year will be two raffles for a Mini iPad.
"With the event theme being to Connect with Your Community, the Mini iPad symbolizes an easy way in which people can stay engaged and informed about their community," according to a village news release.
Attendees at the event are able to enter the raffle by participating in a break out discussion after they have visited the information tables. Upon completing the breakout discussion, the participant will get their raffle slip stamped to enter the raffle.
Light appetizers and desserts will be provided throughout the evening.
New for this year is also a presentation - The New Neighbors: Opportunities and Challenges in the Changing Suburbs which will be presented by the DuPage Federation at 7 p.m. The DuPage Federation is a collaboration of government and key community organizations that identify ways a local community can address its human needs using its own resources and resourcefulness.
The presentation will cover the impacts of changes in demographics and economics as well as the value in addressing these challenges. To help planning for both events, call Leslie Davies at 630-719-4706 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to attend.
