State Rep. Michael Connelly Endorses Ron Sandack

Sandack is a Republican candidate for Illinois' newly create 81st House District.

State Representative Michael Connelly (R—Lisle) endorsed Ron Sandack for State Representative in the 81st District Wednesday.

“Sandack is a hard worker and long time leader for our community,” said Connelly in a press release. “Ron Sandack understands that government doesn’t create jobs but rather provides the environment to sustain job growth.”

“This is the kind of person we need in this seat, someone who understands the importance of bringing jobs and businesses to the great people of our community," Connelly said.

“Ron has worked hard to bring big businesses such as Dover Corporation and DeVry Inc. and other developments to Downers Grove. Ron is willing and able to champion the structural reforms needed to bring Illinois back to its rightful place as an economic powerhouse in Midwest.”

As mayor of Downers Grove from 2007 to 2011, Sandack worked to bring Dover Corporation, DeVry Inc., Lemon Tree Grocer, ATI Physical Therapy,  Capri Restaurant Zeigler Chrysler-Dodge- Jeep and Packey Webb Ford to Downers Grove, according to the press release.

“Further, in a time where property values are declining sharply and taxes continue to rise, Ron Sandack is a leader in the General Assembly on issues of government consolidation and efficiency,” Connelly said in a release.

“I strongly urge the voters of the 81st District, many of whom I have proudly represented for the last three years, to cast their vote in the Republican Party for Ron Sandack.”

Sandack began serving as a village commissioner for Downers Grove in 2003 and was elected mayor in 2007. He currently serves as a state senator for the 21st district, having been appointed last fall to replace Dan Cronin, who was elected DuPage County Board Chairman.

Also running for the 81st District Republican nomination is , who currently serves as the vice president of the  school board.

Including parts of Downers Grove, Darien, Lisle, , Westmont and Naperville, the 81st district constitutes half of the previous 47th district. Patricia Bellock, who currently serves the 47th district, has decided not to run for the 81st, so there is no incumbent candidate.
