Business Retention

  • Provide incentives to businesses to attract and retain them in order to order the tax base
  • The village should continue to be supportive of businesses, working to ensure that Woodridge is a business friendly community
  • Marketing the community to businesses is an important way in which to grow the tax base

Financial Stewardship

  • Make information accessible to the public, especially financial information; be clear, open and timely in communicating to residents

  • Communicate with residents and provide opportunities for dialogue using various methodologies
  • Follow through and act on resident input however it's received -- Town Meeting, surveys, complaints, etc.

Public Safety

  • Maintain safe neighborhoods
  • Enforce the laws of the Village
  • Focus on the youth

  • In order to keep costs down in the long run, be proactive about roadway maintenance, inspecting and maintaining to extend life

The Board was asked to identify ten priorities they considered to be most significant to be achieved within the next one to three years. The Board then ranked these priorities.

Here are the Board's top five priotities:

  • Seek and/or retain businesses that are goods-producing businesses, businesses that generate high assessed value and/or sales tax revenues, job-producing businesses and corporate headquarters
  • Maintain and market competitive business edge, including promoting comparatively low sales tax
  • Develop methods to increase government transparency
  • Identify internal efficiencies, Woodridge intergovernmental efficiencies and multi-jurisdictional efficiencies to reduce costs
  • Further develop the "" campaign
