Village Roundup: From Block Grants to the Goodwill Store

Essential business from last Thursday's village board meeting.

The following decisions were made by the Woodridge village board last Thursday.

BLOCK GRANTS: The village board voted to apply for Community Development Block Grant funds for two projects. The first will seek $196,927 for a project estimated at $262,570 to resurface four streets in the Janes Avenue Neighborhood Strategy Area. The second application will seek $24,000 for youth programs at the Woodridge Community Resource Center.

GOODWILL STORE: The board approved a zoning amendment allowing Goodwill Industries of SEW, Inc., to build a 19,000-square-foot Goodwill Retail Store and Donation Center at the northeast corner of Woodward Avenue and Boughton Road. The amendment allows for the addition of a truck door to the rear of the proposed building and a drive through for donation drop-offs adjacent to the store.
