75 Inducted into World Language Honor Societies at South High School in Downers Grove

The World Languages Department at in Downers Grove inducted 75 students into French, German and Spanish Honor Societies on March 15.

Students and their families participated in a celebration at the school that included piano selections performed by South High student Amanda Cervantes, as well as German, Spanish and French poem readings by students. After each honor society was introduced and the requirements for induction (such as grade point averages and number of classes taken) were explained, students received a certificate and flower representing their language.

“Being inducted into a world language honor society is a significant achievement,” said World Languages Department Chair Tara Dellutri. “These students are dedicated to mastering their respective languages, and preparing themselves for our increasingly global economy.”

Students inducted into the French Honor Society include: Olivia Abrant, Heather Bird, Ben Couillard, Joanna Domanski, Marjorie Fera, Rebecca Ficht, Rosaley Gai, Thea Klinker, Stephanie Major, Gillian Miller, Paige Miller, Noelle Rich, Sophia Robinson, Cedric Scott, Katharine Stone, Youstina Tanaghou and Ivan Torrijos.
