DGS Grad Profile: Bryan Mulcrone, Student Body Prez Looks to College

Bryan Mulcrone graduated from Downers Grove South in June and will attend Northeastern University in Boston in the fall.

1. What activities were you involved in during the school year?

I was the student body president this previous school year. Other than being heavily involved with student council, I played on the school’s varsity basketball team. When I injured my back junior year and was unable to play basketball, I coached the Special Olympic basketball team at Downers Grove South. I am, also, a member of National Honor Society and the Principal-Student Advisory Board.

2. What are your favorite memories from high school?

I cannot pinpoint one single favorite memory from DGS. All of them mesh together, labeled as amazing. From my time in the classroom, to the basketball court, to the club meetings, I have had a great experience at Downers Grove South.

3. What are you looking forward to this summer?

I am looking forward not to setting my alarm for 6 a.m. for Student Government meetings. In seriousness, I am excited to see my friends --this is the last time to build everlasting friendships until college. Also, my family and I are going to Mexico!

4. What will you be doing this summer?

I am a golf caddy at Ruth Lake Country Club, so I think I will be spending most of my summer on the greens reading some puts and most importantly saving up for college. In addition to working, I plan on volunteering at the West Suburban Community Pantry and the Downers Grove Republican Township Organization. Also, I plan on teaching myself modern economics.

5. What's next for you after summer ends?

I will be attending Northeastern University in Boston in the fall, and studying Mechanical Engineering. As well as learning the material, I will be participating in their cooperative-learning experience throughout my years in school. I am very excited about this transition in my life.
