District 68 to Offer Flavored Skim Milk

The district will now offer 1% milk and skim flavored milk to its students.

The district will now serve skim flavored milk at its six elementary schools and . District 68 will also offer 1% milk. 

Previously, the district offered 2%, 1% and 1% flavored milk to its students.

Kevin Wegner, assistant superintendent for business for the district, said the option became available with the district's milk supplier, Quality Milk, and he wanted to bring the change to the attention of the District 68 board.

The district has no plans to, Wegner said. Studies show that when schools stop offering chocolate milk, the overall consumption of milk drops considerably, he told the board.
