District 99 Board of Education Approves Superintendent Contract

The Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the 5-year contract.

The following is a press release from District 99.

The Board of Education has voted to approve Superintendent Dr. Mark McDonald’s performance contract for five years, effective July 1 through June 30, 2016. The board voted 6-0 to approve the contract. Dr. McDonald will receive a base salary of $183,855 in the first year and 2% annual increases for each year thereafter.

"Our recent community focus groups overwhelmingly agreed with the Board--that Mark is a dynamic, strong leader who is skillfully managing the district,” says District 99 School Board President Julia Beckman, who has served on the board since 1993. “I am pleased that he will remain with us and continue to provide his vision for the future of our schools."

“There are many important initiatives happening in District 99 right now, including deployment of the master site plan and finalizing our strategic priorities for the next several years,” says Dr. McDonald. “I’m pleased to have the board’s confidence that I am the right leader for District 99 and can accomplish our mission—which is to continue to make our high schools among the best in Illinois.”

Dr. McDonald has served as superintendent for District 99 since July of 2008 and served as principal of South High School in Downers Grove from 2003 until 2008. He plans to retire at the end of the contract in 2016.
