Four seats will be up for election in April 2013. Nominating petitions may be circulated for signatures beginning Sept. 25.

Nominating petitions for the April 9, 2013 school board election in Community High School District 99 are now available, according to district officials.

Forms may be picked up in the board secretary's office at the Administrative Service Center, 6301 Springside Ave. in Downers Grove. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nominating petitions may be circulated for signature beginning Sept. 25, 2012.

A school board candidate’s petition must be filed in the same office no earlier than 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, and no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24.  Candidates’ names will appear on the election ballot in the order in which their nominating papers are received in the secretary’s office.

Four seats on the seven member District 99 school board will be filled during the April 9 election. Candidates elected will serve four-year terms expiring April, 2017.

Incumbent members whose terms will end are Julia Beckman, Deborah Boyle, Terry Pavesich and Bill White.

To be eligible to serve, a school board member must be, on the date of the election, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a registered voter, and a resident of the State of Illinois and the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election.

Elections are nonpartisan and board candidates do not indicate a political party affiliation. Candidates should be aware of financial conflict of interest limitations set forth in state law.

Nominating papers consist of nominating petitions signed by at least 50 qualified voters residing within the high school district, a statement of candidacy, a receipt from the County Clerk showing that the candidate has filed a Statement of Economic Interests, and a Loyalty Oath, which is optional.

Further information on becoming a candidate in the April 9 board election may be obtained by contacting District 99 Board Secretary Joann Power at 630-795-7102.
