senior Kevin Brinkman has been recognized by the 2012-13 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) for his outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during his junior year..
Each year, the program selects nearly 5,000 NHRP outstanding Hispanic/Latino students as NHRP Scholars from a pool of more than 250,000 who identified themselves as Hispanic, according to district officials.
Although the NHRP does not provide a financial reward, being named is an important academic recognition that automatically alerts subscribing colleges and universities that are particularly interested in academically outstanding seniors of Hispanic/Latino heritage.
The program recognizes students from the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Mariana Islands and Marshall Islands, as well as U.S. citizens attending schools abroad.
“We are proud of Kevin on his accomplishment of being named as a scholar in this prestigious program,” North High School Principal Scott Kasik said in statement.
