DGS Speech Team Wins Regional, DGN Takes Third

Speech Team took first place in its regional Saturday. , which hosted the regional tournament, took third. 

Downers Grove South took first place in nine of 14 individual events, all of which require one or two students. DGN took first and DGS took second in performance in the round, in which a group of students performance a 15-minute play. 

Students are ranked in three preliminary rounds; those scores determine the final rounds. Students in performance in the round perform just once. Each ranking corresponds to a certain number of points. The team with the most points wins the tournament. 

Both DGS and DGN will compete this Saturday at their sectional tournament, hosted by Downers Grove South. The state speech tournament is held the weekend after.

Billy Chengary and Erin C. Walsh, from DGS, took first place. Murtaza Kapasi and Sarah Batchu, from DGN, took third place.
