Eight District 99 Student Artists to be Honored by Elmhurst Art Museum

The students' work will be featured in the museum's fourth annual portfolio exhibition for artistic teens.

The following is a press release from District 99.

The Elmhurst Art Museum has selected the portfolios of eight students to be featured in its fourth annual portfolio exhibition for artistic teens. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. and the exhibition will run until May 1, 2011 at the Elmhurst Art Museum, located at 150 Cottage Hill Avenue in Elmhurst.

High school art teachers work with the museum staff to select student art portfolios, which include six works of art created in the same medium. A panel of judges then selects portfolios to include in the exhibition. This year, 17 portfolios from area high school seniors will be on display.

The museum also hosts several educational programs for students throughout the school year, including “Portfolio 101” and “Careers in the Arts Day.”

"The breadth and depth involved in creating a winning portfolio is a significant accomplishment," comments South High School Fine Arts Department Chair Glenn Williams. "To have work exhibited at a world-class facility is a thrill for these student artists."
