DGS Cross Country Wins Mustang Run

The Downers Grove South High School girls cross country team dominated the 39th annual Kevin Keogh Mustang Run Invitational on Saturday.

The girls cross country team dominated the 39th annual Kevin Keogh Mustang Run Invitational on Saturday. 

The varsity team placed first out of eight teams in the 3-mile race at O'Brien Park in Downers Grove.

Freshman Amanda Thate and Junior Katie Strelau led the Mustang, finishing in a 1-2 punch. 

Thate set a new 3-mile school record (as well as meet and course records) with her time of 17:32. Strelau was runner-up with a time of 18:09.

Senior Jacquelyn Thate finished seventh in 18:35, Junior Jordyn Baylark-Rasul was 13th and Junior Amy Rotunno was 15th to round out the DGS scoring.

The Mustangs were also victorious in the Frosh/Soph race, scoring a mere 26 points. Freshman Abby Kargol won the F/S individual title and Junior Anna Jedralski won the JV individual title. 

The Mustangs compete on Friday at the Naperville Invitational.
