Ed Hartig Chosen as Woodridge Park District's 2010 Coach of the Year

Hartig is the head coach for the U-12 Girls Woodridge Storm traveling soccer team.

Ed Hartig, head coach of the U-12 Girls Woodridge Storm traveling soccer team, has been chosen as the 2010 Coach of the Year.

Hartig has coached the team for the past two years. According to a press release from the Park District, Hartig has "encouraged player development in a positive manner and has also demonstrated good sportsmanship during his time as a coach in the 2010 calendar year."

Hartig started as an assistant coach for the Woodridge Soccer Association in the fall of 1989.

In the release, Hartig said that he was honored to be recognized for doing something he is so passionate about.

“I work with a great bunch of kids," he said. "They never give up and definitely never give in. The girls play hard, but fair, and have plenty of fun while doing so."

Tom Senne, David Arrendondo and Frank Laraia were also nominated for the award.
