Jefferson Girls Varsity, Boys JV Basketball Teams Undefeated in Conference

Jefferson’s athletic success has continued to build as we move through the winter athletic season. Each athletic team has shown great dedication, hard work and focus as they compete and grow as a team. 

Basketball

The Girls Junior Varsity Basketball team ended its season 6-4, finishing second place in the SDEAA Conference. The girls grew tremendously as a team and will be a top runner again next year in conference play.

The boys junior varsity basketball team currently has a 17-3 record. The team went 10-0 in the SDEAA conference, bringing home a conference championship. The boys have an undefeated home record this season.

In tournament play, the boys finished second place in the St. Judes Tournament and won the IESA Regional Championship on Jan. 26. They will advance to the sectional finals against Homer Jr. High School on Feb. 1.

The Girls Varsity Basketball Team is off to another stellar start this season with an 8-0 record. The girls are currently ranked first in the SDEAA conference and are on course to bring home another conference championship. 

The girls recently took second place in the Westmont Rotary Tournament and another first place in the Mayor’s Classic Goodwill Tournament. Cheer on our girls as they continue their success in conference play.

The Boy Varsity Basketball Team currently posts a 3-2 record but is a force to be reckoned with in the SDEAA conference. The boys recently brought home second place in the Mayor’s Classic Goodwill Tournament. 

Wrestling 

The Jefferson Wrestling Team is off to a great start currently posting a record of 4-1.  The team is currently ranked second in the SDEAA Conference with its only loss against Eisenhower Jr. High. 

The team recently finished in the top 6 at the Braves Bash Wrestling Tournament at Indian Trail Jr. High. Jefferson is still in the running to bring home a conference championship.

Chess

The Chess team took first place in its conference tournament Saturday at Lace Elementary School Saturday.

The team had ranked third in conference prior to the tournament, tying with Gower Middle School with a 7-5 conference record.  

Cheerleading

The Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheerleaders have done a tremendous job filling the Jefferson gyms with non-stop support, enthusiasm and spirit. Their dedication is a huge asset to Jefferson Junior High and its athletic program.
