Three of the six boys tennis players who advanced to the IHSA state meet last week earned All-State Honors.
In singles, Joey Leto (41-5), senior captain, won three main draw matches and captured his third All-State selection in as many years. On the doubles court, Cody Freischlag (41-6), junior captain, and his senior partner captain Connor Harmon (41-6) also won three main draw matches as well. It was the third All-State selection for Freischlag and second for Harmon.
All six players fought through a 128-player field in both singles and doubles.
The team finished 11th in the state as Junior Jon Artus (25-7), Senior Kiernan Cavanagh (27-14) and Freshman Tony Leto (21-7) all won one main draw match.
The conference and sectional champion Mustangs finished the historic season setting several milestones. They set the record for the most dual meets won in a single season with 23. Joey Leto broke the career record for wins with 163 and the team set a perfect score of 36 in the IHSA Sectional.
