Police Step Up Patrols at Local Theaters Showing 'Dark Knight Rises'
In light of recent shootings in Colorado, law enforcement presence will be stepped up at local theaters where "The Dark Knight Rises" is being shown.
In the aftermath of today's deadly shooting inside an Aurora, Colorado movie theater that left as many as 12 dead and 50 wounded, police will be stepping up enforcement to help ensure the safety of local movie-goers attending screenings of "The Dark Knight Rises." The film was being shown at the movie theater in Colorado when the tragedy took place.
“We will be directing our patrol resources toward all the local theaters,” said Deputy Chief Gina Grady of the Woodridge Police Department. “We have already had some inquiries from the public about this, and we are going to do what we can do to keep everyone safe.”
Grady said local theaters will be one of the Woodridge Police Department’s primary patrol areas while “The Dark Knight Rises” is being shown. The deputy chief remarked that this morning, as she was passing by one of the theaters in Woodridge, she observed one of the village’s officers patrolling the parking lot.

Movie-goers who have been planning to attend a showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” at will undoubtedly notice the increased police presence at the theater’s location at 1001 West 75th Street in Woodridge, said Angelique Barthel, director of marketing and PR for the company’s Woodridge and Naperville locations.
In a statement released by the theaters today, the company spokesman said, “Hollywood Blvd. and Hollywood Palms Cinemas are open for business as usual and will be showing "The Dark Knight Rises" at our regularly scheduled show times. The Woodridge and Naperville Police Departments have assured us there will be heightened presence at our theatres.”
“We are deeply saddened by the events in Aurora, CO and our prayers go out to the families of those affected by this isolated, senseless act,” the statement continued.

According to the Associated Press, the suspected gunman at the Colorado theater was taken into custody by federal law enforcement officials shortly after the rampage. Police said the suspect, who has been identified as James Holmes, 24, used an AR-15 military-style, semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun and two pistols in the attack.
