Beautiful Day - School's Out for Summer!

I wanted to start writing and expressing my activities with my kids, my job and life, and remind myself that no matter how hard it is - it's a beautiful day!

School is out!

The kids are ready, and I'm ready!  The sun has finally started shining here and the temps are above freezing!  I think it's here to stay (but you can never be sure living in Chicago).

The last week of school has been a joke - there has been no homework. Not even any learning going on.  I know it was like this when I was a kid, and I didn't complain; but now that I'm a parent, I'm complaining!  And they have to go to school tomorrow for ONE HOUR!  It's so ridiculous!  Again, we did it too (my mom thinks it was 2 hours) but still.  What a stupid concept, but knowing that one hour counts as a day, and they get funding because of it I suppose it's worth it.  But today they will bring home all their supplies not even leaving a pencil there for tomorrow, what will they do for one hour??

But after that hour - it's SUMMER!  Pool, camps, relaxing, sleeping in (ha!  I wish, my kids don't know how to sleep in yet....again I know in 6 years when they're teenagers I'll be complaining that I can't get them out of bed!)

We are going on several trips this summer.  First Arizona. Luckily we get to stay with my parents, because the airline tickets alone was practically our life savings!  It's crazy.

Then a short trip to Michigan for the weekend to see my college roommate.

Then a week long to Wisconsin to fish, boat, swim and relax in the wooded lake area of Northern Wisconsin.

And when it's all said and done, everyone will be ready to go back to school at the end of August.  But until then I'm going to (try) and enjoy every minute.  They are not going to be young forever and it seems like it's slipping by.

So for now, I will enjoy them, love them and remember it's a beautful day!!
