Wine Tasting to Benefit West Suburban Community Pantry

On Oct. 2, sample more than 40 wines with appetizers to help the community.

Helping those less fortunate just got a little easier with the upcoming wine tasting benefiting the .

Sunday, Oct. 2, will mark the fifth year the event has taken place and the second time it will be held at . The proceeds will be used to purchase food to help keep up with the increasing demand of the pantry.

More than 40 wines will be served at the tasting, and Executive Director Barbara Schmith says there is something for everyone.

"Whether you like sweet, dry, red or white wines, you will find something at this event," she said.

The wines are chosen by the owners of , Charlene and James, and range from great value bottles to more high-end. WineStyle representatives will be on hand to tell as much, or as little, as you'd like to know about each wine.

While the wine sampling is underway, food prepared by Seven Bridges Golf Club will be served. There will be hors d'oeuvres, fruit, cheeses and crudites.

Raffles prizes include restaurant certificates, food baskets, movie tickets and more.

Schmith says they are hoping for an increase in attendance this year. Last year, 70 people attended, and they raised $2,150. This year, they are hoping for 100 tickets sold and to raise $2,500.

The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. They're available for purchase at the or at .
