St. Scholastica Raises $6,200 in Walk-a-Thon for Technology

The annual fundraiser raises money for technology use at the parochial school in Woodridge.

Around and around the parking lot they walked.  St. Scholastica students trekked around the school parking lot for an hour for the school's annual Walk-a-Thon for technology. Each student receives a pledge sheet to raise money.  Thursday's fundraiser raised $6,170.39 for technology use at the school. Last year, the money was used to purchase laptops for every eighth grade student.  Students with the highest donations get the honor of throwing a pie at Principal Gail Kueper and Fifth-Grade Teacher Amy Yusko. The class with the most donations wins a pizza party.  Second grade raised the most of any grade, with $1,201.83 in donations.  Brunswick Zone, Hollywood Blvd, Woodridge Park District and Ziegfield Troy-Lost Mountain Mini-Golf also …

Metra riders are prohibited from bringing coffee and face other restrictions on what they can carry on trains during the NATO summit. Breast milk, however, is okay.

As Chicago gears up for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit at McCormick Place, Metra has stepped up security throughout its rail system, including the Southwest and Rock Island lines. From May 19 through May 21, riders will face security screenings and restrictions on what they can carry on to trains while global leaders are in town for the NATO summit, Metra announced Monday. You may also want to ditch the latte. Riders will be prohibited from carrying food or beverages on the train, including coffee. However, breast milk can be carried on a train but is subject to inspection and should be declared if you’re being screened. Riders may also see increased police presence and perhaps even a bomb- sniffing dog or two. The following…

I normally would play the race card and say its because of the nig nogs. Surprisingly the Kohl's robbery and Meth lab were normal looking people. Denzel Griffin on the other hand sounds more like what I would expect to be associated with crime. You know your all thinking the same thing, admit it or not.   more ›

Teacher Found Guilty of Sexual Abuse Pursues Erectile Dysfunction as Defense

Former Oswego High School language arts teacher and Woodridge resident Dale Fry says erectile dysfunction should have been part of original sexual abuse defense.

Dale Fry, the Oswego High School teacher convicted last year of sexually abusing a female student, testified in Kendall County court Wednesday that his battle with erectile dysfunction was a factor that was never brought forward in his trial and could have played a key role in his defense. In a post-trial hearing to determine whether Fry could receive a new trial with a new attorney, the Woodridge resident said he had been struggling with a decreased sexual drive, hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction since about 2000. Fry also said his previous attorney, Philip Nathe of Naperville, told him that his medical condition would have no bearing on the case. “I thought it was important enough that it be brought up because of the charges against …
