Prince of Peace is the sole Lutheran Church in Woodridge. The church is located next to Woodridge's United Methodist…More Church along 75th Street. The church offers Sunday School for children 3-year-old to fifth grade and a kid's choir. Prince of Peace holds Communion class for sixth to eighth graders. High school students participate in service projects and attend an annual Youth Group meeting. Adults have Thursday's Bible Study as well as a Sunday Morning Study, Lenten Book Club and two special studies: Beer and Bibles for those 20-49 and Wine and the Word for 50+. The church also hold a Vacation Bible School every summer.
Prince of Peace offers men's, women's and youth ministries and participates in service opportunities like the West Suburban Community Pantry, Feed My Starving Children and Operation Support Our Troops.
Rev. Trudy Stoffel is the pastor of Prince of Peace. The church provides space for: Boy Scout Troop 516, Baltika ABC Lithuanian School, Nayon Philipino School, two TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) Groups, and Alcoholics-Anonymouse.
The Augustana Lutheran Church has its first service on Oct. 15, 1961 at Goodrich School. The church moved to Woodridge School a few months later and became an official congregation on Jan. 22, 1962. The church as we know it today was completed in 1966. The church also witnessed renovations in 1970 (East room), 1982 (modular classrooms) and 1989 (entryway and offices).
