William F. Murphy is one of the six elementary schools in the Woodridge Public School District 68. William F. Murphy…More won the Illinois Spotlight Schools Award in 2008. It was the third year in a row that the school met school improvement standards in Illinois and was placed on the Illinois School Honor Roll. William F. Murphy has made adequate yearly progress under the federal No Child Left Behind Act every year since 2004 (the Act started tracking adequate yearly progress in 2003).
The school is named after current Woodridge Mayor William F. Murphy, who was assistant superintendent for District 68 and principal at Goodrich and Edgewood Schools. It's located in a residential community near the intersection of 75th Street and Janes Avenue.
The school's mascot is the Wildcats. Susan Futterer is the principal. The school grounds include the Clement J. Campbell Reading Garden.
Murphy School provides ESL and a bilingual program. The school also has art, music and physical education programs. The school has Title I, speech, inclusion and learning resource services.
