Lakeview holds an annual eighth grade class trip to Washington D.C.
Lakeview's specialty is music. It has several bands, including two jazz bands, a wind ensemble, symphonic band and concert band. It also has a marching band and color guard, a drama club and performs an annual musical. There are also general music classes and an extra-curricular choir program. Lakeview also has several athletic teams, from swimming to football and intramurals, as well as several extracurricular clubs. Project Challenge is the gifted/academically talented program at Lakeview. Students in this program are enrolled in advanced classes in math, language arts and/or reading. These students also meet two days a week for alternative assignments, projects and novel studies during study hall time or before school.
Lakeview has made adequate yearly progress under the federal No Child Left Behind Act every year since the Act was enacted.
