Walgreens to Expand Liquor Selection

The store is currently allowed to sell just beer and wine.

Walgreens will soon offer more than wine and beer in its alcohol line-up.  Walgreens, 2501 75th St., received the approval for a Class B-1 Liquor License Jan. 26 from the village board, which permits the retail sale of "alcoholic liquor."  Walgreens previously had a Class B-2 Liquor License, which permits the retail sale of beer and wine.  The village clerk's office received a written request from Walgreens to approve the Class B-1 liquor license, according to village documents. The request came as an effort to expand their adult beverage offering and was in response to customer requests, according to the village.

Just what Naperville needs! Another liquor department! With Jewel and Dominick's a mile away, why another so close? It's not a matter of tax revenue since all it's going to do is split up liquor sales between 3 retailers instead of 2. I guess it's easier to generate revenue from liquor sales than to enforce stop sign and speed limit compliance!   more ›
