POLICE: Armed Robbery May 4 in Woodridge Involved 3 Males

One of the males displayed a handgun, police said. Here are more details.

Woodridge police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred last weekend in the village. Three unknown males, one of them with a handgun, approached some people and requested they hand over their belongings. The incident took place outside at about 3:51 a.m. May 4 on the 2500 block of Spring Street, according to police. The males took $20 cash, a cell phone and then fled the scene in a grey van. Information on this robbery was not immediately released due to unreliable descriptions of the males and other details, police said. The investigation was still open as of May 10, police said. Nearby Blotter: Heroin Bust in Bolingbrook, Knife Pulled by DG Pickers

A man is behind bars after he was found with about 40 bags of heroin. Bolingbrook police arrested Chad E. Hinshaw, 32, of Pontiac, at 6:10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Remington Boulevard and Brookview Lane. Hinshaw was a passenger in a car that had been stopped by police for failing to signal when required after cutting across three lanes of traffic. The traffic violation resulted in causing several other commuters to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with the car, police said. Officers said they saw Hinshaw “duck down and then briskly move around the seat.” After approaching the vehicle, police said Hinshaw continued to fidget and act nervous. Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest Woodridge news in your inbox.  A masked man who stole a car at gunpoint in the parking lot outside Kohl's Wednesday night later told authorities it was a "stupid thing" to do and he was only "thrill seeking," according to the Daily Herald.  Michael Buhrman, 31, of Coal City, IL, has been charged with aggravated car jacking with a firearm and appeared in DuPage County bond court Friday. Buhrman was released after paying $20,000, according to the Daily Herald.  Buhrman allegedly pointed a handgun at a woman seated inside a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am while wearing a Halloween mask, according to a Woodridge police release. Police: Masked Man Steals Car in Kohl's Parking Lot at Gunpoint

A suspect is in custody though formal charges are still pending.

A car was stolen at gunpoint around 10 p.m. Wednesday night in the parking lot near Kohl's, 1001 75th St., according to Woodridge police.  A man wearing a Halloween mask pointed a handgun at a woman seated inside a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, according to a release. He ordered her out of the car at gunpoint, got in the car and drove away, police said. A witness to the robbery followed the stolen car and informed police of its whereabouts, according to reports. Police said they stopped the car near the Centerpointe Mall along Woodward Avenue and arrested a 31-year-old man from Coal City, who was still wearing the Halloween mask and had a loaded .45 caliber handgun in his possession. Officials: Man Threatens Driver with Knife, Steals Wallet

The March 27 incident took place on Kildeer Street, according to court documents.

An Aurora man faces charges of armed robbery after officials said he broke the window of a car and threatened a man inside it with a long-blade knife before demanding his wallet.  The incident took place on Kildeer Street, according to court documents. Kildeer Street is located in a single-family residential community off of Janes Avenue near the Woodridge Towne Center.   Corey M. Johnson, 20, of Aurora, faces single charges of armed robbery and robbery. Johnson is also charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and the unlawful use of a weapon, He remains in DuPage County Jail on $200,000 bail.  Johnson was scheduled for a court hearing Monday.

Armed Robbery: i-Phone Seller Held at Gunpoint

The incident took place Feb. 3, according to the Woodridge Police Department.

A 25-year-old man from Richton Park has been charged with armed robbery after Woodridge police say he held a person selling refurbished iPhones at gunpoint.  Laurence Smith, 25, from the 22000 block of Latonia Lane, was arrested around 7:40 p.m. Feb. 3.  Smith contacted the iPhone seller on Craigslist and the pair arranged to meet for the transaction in the parking lot of Sam's Club, 7300 Woodward, Ave., police said. Instead of paying, Smith held the iPhone seller at gunpoint and took the box of phones, leaving the scene in a car without license plates.  Smith's car was later found at a Chicago address, where he was apprehended.

Police Investigating Armed Robbery near DGS

Robbery took place at Dollar Tree Sunday night.

From the Village of Downers Grove website: The Downers Grove Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occured on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at the Dollar Tree, located 7323 Lemont Road.  At approximately 9:00 p.m. two male subjects with handguns, wearing dark clothing with their faces concealed, entered the store and demanded money.  The subjects fled the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.  There were no reported injuries to any of the employees.  This case is currently under investigation, and no further details are available at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the Downers Grove Police Department at (630) 434-5600.

UPDATE: The armed robbery took place last Tuesday, not Wednesday. This was an error in the release sent to the press. The date has been corrected below. --- Several men approached a pedestrian last Tuesday, Nov. 23, around 7:10 p.m. in the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue, according to police. One man displayed a black handgun to the individual before stealing the person's wallet, phone and keys. The men then struck the individual with an unknown object.  Police said the victim did not sustain any injuries.
