Police Blotter: Burglars Hit Multiple Cars in Same Streets

Woodridge police reports, Nov. 3.

Four Woodridge residents reported their cars burglarized Nov. 3, and each incident occurred in the same area.  The burglaries all occurred either in the 7000 block of Newport Drive or the 7000 block of Andover Court, which intersect near Interstate 355.  The first report was filed at 7 a.m. Nov. 3, and the other three reports came within the next hour. The burglaries were reported to have occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Nov. 2 and 8 a.m. Nov. 3. One Section of Woodridge, Four Burglaries from Unlocked Cars

The four incidents took place between Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday morning, according to police reports.

Four burglaries took place earlier this week from unlocked cars parked in the same section of Woodridge, according to police reports.  All four incidents took place between Sunday afternoon or evening and Monday morning. The incidents also took place in the same vicinity -- in a subdivision located along Woodward Avenue just north of I-55.  You can see a map of each location by clicking here.  Items taken included a computer, radar detector, GPS and a camera.  Woodridge police have not indicated these incidents were linked or committed by the same person or people.  Here is a detailed list of each incident.  Witham Lane  Sometime between 2 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday, someone took a computer from an unlocked car parked in the 9700 block …

Man Charged with Two Counts of Car Damage

Downers Grove man was arrested Friday; two others were arrested May 17.

Editor's note: This article corrects a previous version, which was taken from a police report that contained errors.  A Downers Grove man was charged early Friday after police said he attempted to smash the windows of two cars parked in the 7000 block of Rhodes Court.  Jake Wennerstrom, 20, from the 1100 block of 59th Street in Downers Grove, was arrested around 4 a.m. and charged with two counts of criminal damage to a vehicle.  While he attempted to smash the windows, he was not successful, police said. He also allegedly took items from an unlocked car but the owner has not yet come forward, so he has not been charged with burglary to a motor vehicle. Police Cite Two More Incidents of Car Damage

Two more incidents of car damage have been reported, according to Woodbridge police reports.  On Wednesday, a vandal broke the rear driver’s side window of a parked vehicle around 6:45 a.m. in the 11000 block of Katherine’s Crossing.  Between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday, someone smashed the rear passenger side window and cracked the taillight of the parked vehicle in the 6700 block of Greenleaf Street.  Twenty-six other incidents of car damage and burglary have been reported since late April.  Twenty-two other incidents of car burglary or damage were reported in late April and May. Police Report Four More Incidents of Car Burglary, Damage

Cases occur between May 19 and May 22.

Four more incidents of car burglaries or damage to a car have been reported, according to Woodridge police.  Between May 19 and May 20, someone tried to pry open the door to three cars on Deer Road, damaging the windows. In one case, the person also removed a radio from the car.  Two of these incidents, including the one where the radio was stolen, took place in the 7700 block of Deer Street. The third took place in the 3300 block of Deer Street.  These were the reported times of the incidents on Deer Street:  Another car burglary was reported around 1 a.m. on May 22 in the 6600 block of Oak Tree Trail. Two Charged in Relation to Woodridge Car Burglaries

Two individuals were charged after they were observed going into unlocked vehicles May 17.

Two individuals, one from Wheaton and one from Woodridge, were charged early Tuesday, May 17, after they were observed going into unlocked cars in Woodridge. Hung Diep, 28, from the 1000 block of College Avenue in Wheaton, was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle. Christopher Brooks, 18, from the 7700 block of Woodward Avenue, was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle. The arrests were made around 1:25 a.m. on May 17. The pair was observed going into unlocked vehicles near the intersection of 83rd Street and Piers Drive. Twenty-two incidents of car burglary or damage have been reported since April 24. The Woodridge Police Department reported last week that 12 incidents of car damage or theft took place in Woodridge in the overnight hours between May 13 and May 14. More Car Burglaries Reported, This Time in Darien

Five car burglaries were reported in Darien between May 11 and 15.

Twelve incidents of car burglaries or damage were reported in Woodridge between May 13 and 14.  Five car burglaries were reported in Darien near that time, as Darien Patch reported Wednesday.  Ten other incidents of car burglaries or car damage have been reported in Woodridge in the past month. Police Report 12 Incidents of Car Burglaries, Damage May 13-14

The 12 incidents took place in the overnight hours between May 13 and May 14 near Route 53 and Woodridge Drive.

Twelve more incidents of car damage or theft were reported in the overnight hours between Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, according to police.  The incidents took place "in close proximity to each other" near Route 53 and Woodridge Drive.  According to a press release from the Woodridge Police Department, "items taken from the vehicles include loose change, GPS units, a media player, a digital camera and other miscellaneous items." Five of the incidents occurred in the 6400 block of Marshall Drive, four of the incidents occurred in the 6400 block of Dean Drive and three of the incidents occurred between the 3300 block and 3400 block of Woodridge Drive, police said. Woodridge Police Report String of Car Burglaries, Windows Smashed

A string of vehicle burglaries and smashed car windows were reported between April 24 and 27, according to Woodridge police reports. Four incidents were reported in which car windows were smashed and items were stolen, including a car radio, a case containing CDs and three GPS units. There were four more incidents in which car windows were cracked or smashed, but no items were taken. Kate Croteau, management analyst for the Woodridge Police Department, said department detectives are looking into the incidents and monitoring pawn shops for any missing items.
