DGS Cheerleaders Take 4th in State
Downers Grove South took fourth and Downers Grove North took ninth at Saturday's IHSA co-ed cheerleading finals in Bloomington, IL.

Downers Grove South High School took fourth in the IHSA co-ed cheerleading finals; Downers Grove North took ninth.
Both Downers Grove South and Downers Grove North made it to the finals of the IHSA co-ed cheerleading finals Saturday. Downers Grove South took fourth in state. Downers Grove North took ninth. DGS scored 87.54; DGN scored 85.88. Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, IL took first in the co-ed division with a score of 91. Barrington High School took second (89.06) and Buffalo Grove High School took third (88.72).

Both the Downers Grove North and Downers Grove South co-ed varsity cheerleading squads had their final practices before state Friday. Woodridge Patch was there to get video of the squads showing off their skills. Both teams qualified for the 2012 IHSA Co-Ed Division State Finals at their sectional Saturday, scoring within .37 points of each other. DGS took second with 86.57 points; DGN took third with 86.2 points. Barrington High School took first place with a score of 89.93. The squads will compete against 23 other schools. The preliminary round for the large and co-ed divisions will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL. Jefferson’s athletic success has continued to build as we move through the winter athletic season. Each athletic team has shown great dedication, hard work and focus as they compete and grow as a team. Basketball The Girls Junior Varsity Basketball team ended its season 6-4, finishing second place in the SDEAA Conference. The girls grew tremendously as a team and will be a top runner again next year in conference play. The boys junior varsity basketball team currently has a 17-3 record. The team went 10-0 in the SDEAA conference, bringing home a conference championship. The boys have an undefeated …
