The following are recent developments in DuPage County court cases Patch has been following: Downers Grove/Lisle—Kristy Wavra, the Lisle woman accused of biting a nurse technician at Good Samaritan Hospital in April, has asked a judge to place her in the county's mental health program. Wavra, 56, was arrested after the April 1 incident. She filed a request to be put into DuPage County's Mental Illness Court Alternative Program - a treatment-based pretrial diversion program - during a recent court appearance on the aggravated battery charge, records show. Wavra faces the same charge in connection to a March incident where prosecutors allege she spit in the face of a Lisle police officer. Prosecutors describe Wavra as a Hepatitis C carrier …

Elmhurst: Sentencing has been set for the Elmhurst mother who pleaded guilty to aggravated battery to a child in connection to a June 2011 incident involving her son. Cheryl Luchetta had been charged with attempted murder after her she awoke to find her son unresponsive inside their Elmhurst home last year. Police and prosecutors said Luchetta drugged the boy before cutting her own throat. Luchetta pleaded guilty in July to the aggravated battery charge in a deal with prosecutors. She faces between six and 30 years on the Class X felony at her sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept. 24, according to court documents. Darien: Following after her husband's plea with prosecutors, Georgina Burr pleaded guilty Aug. 27 to heroin possession in connection to their Christmas Eve arrests at a Darien gas station. Georgina Burr was sentence to 82 days in DuPage County Jail, receiving 41 days credit, and placed on two years of probation centered on drug treatment. She must complete evaluations and counseling as part of her deal with prosecutors, according to court records. Police arrested Georgina and Andrew Burr, both of Walnut, Ill., after a witness reported the couple left their children in a running car. Both entered the women's bathroom where they shot heroin, authorities have said. Georgina Burr's also pleaded to a misdemeanor count of child endangerment. …

DUPAGE: Hinsdale: A Hinsdale man who taught at Sandburg High School has been indicted on charges he sexually abused a female student. Steven Reynolds was arrested last month after police investigated information about an encounter between the girl and Reynolds at his home. Reynolds was indicted Feb. 28 on two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He is free on bond and scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in DuPage County. Naperville: Another man suspected of being involved in a string of robberies in an around Naperville over the last year has pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of armed robbery, aggravated robbery and kidnapping. DUPAGE: Darien: The second half of a husband-wife duo has pleaded not guilty to charges of shooting heroin in a gas station bathroom on Christmas Eve while their children sat in a running vehicle. During a Feb. 6 hearing, Georgina Burr denied single counts of possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. A grand jury recently indicted the couple on those charges, with Andrew Burr entering a not guilty plea in late January. Both are scheduled to return to court on Feb. 28. Hinsdale A former Clarendon Hills police officer accused of stealing guns from the department in 2007 appears headed for a possible plea agreement with prosecutors. DUPAGE: Downers Grove: A former Downers Grove police officer charged with official misconduct is scheduled for a March trial on charges he illegally ran license plates. Randy Caudill is set for trial on March 20 before Judge George Bakalis. Caudill was arrested in 2010 after an investigation revealed he improperly checked license plates in what has been called a plot to rob a drug dealer, according to prosecutors. Kane County: Batavia/Geneva: A Batavia teen recently pleaded guilty to a felony marijuana possession charge connected to a September arrest in Geneva. Devin Alsip was sentenced to two years of probation, 30 hours of public service and was ordered to pay $3,500 in fines and costs as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. …

DUPAGE: Elmhurst: The Elmhurst man convicted last month on 15 counts of possessing child pornography was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender. Paul F. Murphy was arrested last year after an investigation turned up hundreds of pornographic images on computer files and DVDs in Murphy's apartment. He was also ordered to serve 180 days in DuPage County Jail, but was credited with 326 days he had already served. Downers Grove/Lisle: John C. Campbell, accused of pretending to be a federal agent, pleaded not guilty Jan. 9 to forgery and multiple counts of impersonating an officer. Darien: A 74-year-old Darien man faces a second round of charges accusing him of fondling a young girl. John P. Higgins was charged in 2009 in connection to a 2006 incident where he kissed and fondled a then-16-year-old girl, according to prosecutors. Earlier this month, prosecutors charged Higgins with predatory criminal sexual assault relating to incidents from 2001 in which he is accused of fondling a young teen girl. Higgins pleaded not guilty on Dec. 19 to the six counts from 2006, court records show. He is free on bond. DUPAGE: Elmhurst: A 21-year-old from Libertyville is scheduled for a January hearing on a charge he carved racist remarks into concrete window ledge at Elmhurst College earlier this month. Myles Burton was charged with a hate crime related to the felony criminal damage to property after "KKK," "Negro" and "I hate black people" were discovered. The incident reportedly occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 8. Burton turned 21 on Dec. 10. He received an underage drinking ordinance violation earlier this year, according to court records.
