A Woodridge man was charged with multiple felonies March 5 after Darien police said he led them on a chase that extended from the city and through Bolingbrook before concluding in Lemont. The chase began shortly before 2 a.m. when officers said they saw Eduardo Lopez, 20, of the 8100 block of Rutherford Drive in Woodridge, swerving over the center lane line and turning several times without signaling. Officers attempted to pull him over, but Lopez continued driving through Darien, Bolingbrook and Lemont, with a short stint on Interstate 55, according to the report. Lopez crashed in Lemont and ran from his car, throwing a bag of marijuana over a bridge before officers caught him near Lemont Road and Beller Drive, the report said. Darien …

The boy, who has not been identified by authorities, was crossing Beller Drive with his bike in Darien late Sunday afternoon when he was hit by a car making a right turn onto Lemont Road, Darien police said. He was initially treated for serious injuries at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital’s trauma center in Downers Grove before being airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. I'm praying for this beautiful boy also. We moved from Timberlake @ 87th and Lorraine to Ca. in 1970 but I still like to keep up with what's going on back there and this story just broke my heart. I have 6 grandkids and if one of them was crossing a major intersection by themselves like that, I'd be very afraid. I'm praying very hard for him and for his "Mommy and Daddy". Darien-Woodridge fire paramedics performed advanced life-support on the boy while taking him to the hospital, according to a release.
Updated: 5:39 p.m. Monday A teenage boy from unincorporated Downers Grove sustained serious injuries when he became trapped under a car while riding his bicycle near Beller and Lemont roads in Darien around 4:56 p.m. Sunday, Darien-Woodridge Fire District officials said. Fire personnel had to extract the boy by lifting the car off his lower body with two high-pressure air bags placed under the front passenger side, according to a Darien-Woodridge release. The driver, whose blood alcohol levels were nearly five times the legal limit, was involved in crashes in Bolingbrook and Woodridge before being detained at the scene of a crash in Darien.
A Darien woman involved in three separate accidents in one day was charged with driving under the influence after her blood alcohol levels tested nearly five times the legal limit, Darien police said. Around 9:25 p.m. Feb. 3, Lori Ann Gutierrez drove into a Mercury Cougar, pushing it into a Chevy Trailblazer on Boughton Road near the Interstate 355 ramp in Bolingbrook, Bolingbrook police said. Gutierrez, 44, of the 2600 block of Woodmere Drive, left the scene traveling west on Boughton Road, according to the report. The Bolingbrook Fire Department took one person to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, the report said. The driver of one of the other cars declined medical attention. Greta Reklaityte, 18, of the 2600 block of Burr Ridge Court in Woodridge, was arrested around 2:55 a.m. on the 8900 block of Lemont Road, police said. Officers said Reklaityte nearly hit their squad car as she exited Interstate 55 onto Lemont Road. They said they then saw her drive erratically before speeding through a yellow light. Reklaityte was charged with driving under the influence, consumption of alcohol by a minor, improper lane usage and disobeying a red light, according to the report.
A Woodridge woman rear-ended the car in front of her at a stoplight, police said.
Four people were taken to the hospital with injuries sustained during a Dec. 22 crash on Route 83 near 75th Street in Darien, the Darien Police Department said. Ulla O. Back, 59, of the 2900 block of North Creek Court in Woodridge, was charged with driving under the influence after police said she rear-ended another car that was stopped at a stoplight. Back was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where hospital records show she was treated and released. Two Woodridge residents are arrested in Darien.
Raul Segundo-Garcia, 30, of the 8100 block of Waterbury in Woodridge, was arrested around 2:40 a.m. near the intersection of 83rd and Woodward Avenue, police said. He was charged with one count of driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license and improper lane use after police said they saw him swerving within the lane and discovered he had numerous other traffic violations. Iuta Clark, 59, of the 2000 block of Apple Lane in Woodridge, was arrested around 3:10 p.m. at Walmart, police said. She was issued an ordinance citation at the Walmart after she stole two bottles of Tylenol, a bottle of Prevacid and a bottle of vanilla extract, with a total value of $49.22, police said.
