Ready, Set, Shop! Bakers Flock to 2012 Wilton Tent Sale

Baking supply bargain hunters flood a massive sale held by cake decorating and baking supplier Wilton, June 1 through June 19.

Some shoppers will go a long way for a good deal. Just ask Bill Zullo, a Wilton employee and helper at the Wilton Tent Sale. Zullo, who helps run the massive cake decorating and baking supplies discount sale, has seen shoppers come from as far away as Ireland for the event. "Wilton is a brand name, so people understand Wilton has good bakeware, so people come from all over the country—and the world—and look at what we have," Zullo said. The event, now in its 26th year, is a major draw for Chicago-area food crafters and began as a sale of surplus items stacked on wooden pallets. It has since grown into a massive tent sale offering more than 3,000 products. People come to stock up on baking supplies for prices that are 55 percent lower than …

Police Blotter: Halloween Decorations Damaged, Stolen

Woodridge police reports, Oct. 21-22

Someone damaged Halloween decorations between 10 p.m. Oct. 22 and 8:40 a.m. Oct. 23 in Abbey Court, police said.  Someone removed Halloween decorations from the front yard of a residence in the 1200 block of Redcliff Street around 9:30 p.m., police said.  Someone dented a quarter panel on the driver's side of a parked car in the 8100 block of Waterbury Drive around 8 a.m., police said.  Someone stole a wallet from a person attending a party in the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue between 9 p.m. Oct. 21 and 8 a.m. Oct. 22, police said. Reginald Curry, 21, from the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue, was arrested and charged with obstruction of a police officer around 10 p.m. after he gave a false name to officers following a traffic stop near the …
