Upon preliminary review, the numbers look good & I think I'd support the initiative. It would be a great addition to the community and a great chance to make sure our residents are more active. (Personal aside: I do wish it could have an indoor pool like The Core in Lemont.) I'd definitely like more information - are they planning to hold a information session as they get further in their …   more ›

Village Budget Includes Min. $5 Increase in Tax Bill Per Year

The village board will vote on its 2012-2013 budget at a future board meeting.

Woodridge households will see an increase of at least $5 to their tax bill each year as part of a provision to the Village of Woodridge's FY2013 budget. The increase would only be on behalf of the village's portion of the tax bill. The village's annual tax levy also includes the levy for the Woodridge Public Library. The $5 increase would not include any increases in taxes to support the library. It's a switch from village policy as recently as 2009, when the village sought to reduce its tax rate for 25 consecutive years. The village voted to increase the average tax bill by $8 in 2010. The village board split in a vote Dec. 8, 2011, to raise its tax levy $10 for the average Woodridge household. Mayor William F. Murphy broke the tie by …

I have fond memories of the former Woodridge Krispy Kreme location. One of the highlights: warm, freshly-baked donuts you could get for free if you went at closing time. Alas, Krispy Kreme left the village years ago. What would you like to see in that space instead? Let's call this a modern spin on community planning—Patch's version of a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table. In an occasional column, we'll present a new vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the…

Second Massage Salon Hopes to Move to Woodridge

The village board will vote Thursday whether Simple Kneads Massage and Bodywork can move from Naperville to Woodridge.

The Woodridge village board will vote Thursday if a second massage establishment will open in the village.  Simple Kneads Massage and Bodywork is currently located in Naperville. The company would like to relocate to the Hobson Ridge Office Park, located at the southeast corner of Hobson Road and Route 53. Last year, the village approved an amendment to allow another Woodridge massage establishment to open in the Woodgrove Festival Shopping Center. That location is a B-2 zoning district.  Massage establishments have not been approved for the Hobson Ridge Office Park, which is in a OSB zoning district. The board will need to approve another village code amendment to make the change to village code.  The Woodridge Plan Commission approved …
