Woodridge Police Blotter: Hit-and-Run Damages Parked Car

Graffiti on Janes Avenue basketball courts and more in this week's police blotter.

Nominate a Young Volunteer for a Kohl's Scholarship

Two individuals nominated from each Kohl's store will win a $50 Kohl's gift card.

Kohl's is accepting nominations for outstanding young volunteers from Feb. 1 to March 15 for its 2012 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program. You can nominate volunteers ages 6 to 18 at kohlskids.com. You must be 21 years or older to nominate someone.  Two nominees from each Kohl's store will win a $50 Kohl's gift card.  More than 200 of the store winners will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education. Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.  The Kohl’s Cares® Scholarship Program is part of Kohl’s Cares, Kohl’s philanthropic program focused on improving the lives of …

Police Blotter: Thefts and DUI's Over the Holidays

Three thefts from Kohl's and two instances of driving under the influence reported in Woodridge from Dec. 24-27.

Dec. 27  Holiday (stolen) returns at Kohl's Anton Rybets, 22, from 3029 Linder Ave. in Chicago, was arrested around 5 p.m. and charged with retail theft after he attempted to exchange stolen merchandise for cash at Kohl’s, 1001 75th St., police said.   Bridge marked with paint   Someone marked the underpass of a bridge near Hobson Road and the DuPage River with black paint around 1 a.m., police said.  Dec. 26  Driving under the influence Tomas De Los Santos-Rios, 40, from 141 Denber St. in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. and charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without a valid driver’s license following a traffic stop in the 7400 block of Woodward …
