Update: 6 Vehicle Burglaries on Westview, Suspect Charged

Police have a suspect in custody after a call to Geneva Street Thursday morning.

Update: William E. Hately, 18, of Woodridge was charged with one count of felony burglary, theft and criminal damage to property after allegedly committing a string of vehicle break-ins Wednesday night.  Deputy Chief Gina Grady told Patch that Hately is suspected of breaking in to six vehicles on Westview Lane. He will be transported to Dupage County Jail and is slated to appear in bond court either Thursday evening or Friday morning.   Police are asking residents to lock the doors of their vehicles to avoid similar crimes from occurring. "We think most [vehicles] were unlocked," said Gardy of this particular incident. Police Blotter: Woodridge Experiences Rash of Motor Vehicle Burglaries in One Day

Woodridge Police reports Aug. 17 - Aug. 23.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 21 A burglary from motor vehicle occurred at approximately 5 a.m., in the 9000 block of Hampstead Court. Someone removed a laptop from a vehicle. A burglary from motor vehicle occurred sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. in the 1200 block of Somerset. Unknown persons removed a subwoofer speaker from a vehicle. A burglary from motor vehicle occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. in the 9000 block of Charing Cross Rd. Unknown persons removed an IPod from a vehicle. A criminal trespass to vehicle occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. in the 1100 block of Westminster Drive. Unknown persons rummaged through a vehicle but didn’t remove anything. Police Blotter: Recent Burglaries and Theft in Woodridge

Woodridge Police reports Aug. 10 - Aug. 17.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 17 A theft occurred sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the 2400 block of Emerald Court, Woodridge Police say. Someone removed a bike from the back entrance of the Emerald Courts apartment complex. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15 Someone broke into a car parked on the 3100 block of Edgewood Parkway at about 3 a.m. The thief removed three bottles of perfume and a few other items. Sometime during the overnight hours, someone stole a GPS from a car parked on the 8,000 Block of Gatewood Lane. Sometime between 11 p.m. on August 14 and 1 a.m. on August 15, someone stole scrap metal from a business in the 11000 Block of Joliet Road.
