Man Charged in Stabbing Death, Sex Assault of Woodridge Woman

Adam Belmont, of Northlake, is charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Woodridge resident Alyssa Van Meter.

A Northlake man is accused of stabbing to death and then sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend, a Woodridge resident. He was denied bond in DuPage County Court on Monday.  According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, 23-year-old Adam Belmont, of Northlake, is charged with the first-degree murder of his ex-girlfriend, Woodridge resident Alyssa Van Meter.  Belmont appeared in court Monday and was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of home invasion, both Class X felonies.  Stay updated with breaking news alerts about your community.  His next court date is Jan. 14. Tribune: Darien Kidnap Victim had 'Always been Afraid' of Kidnapper

A woman kidnapped at knifepoint early Friday had been denied an order of protection against her attacker last month, the Tribune reported Monday.

A Darien man charged with murder and aggravated kidnapping was ordered to be held without bail Monday.  Joseph Spitalli, 34, of 7529 Country Lane in Darien, was taken into custody Sunday and charged with murder in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Teymur Huseynli, of Skokie. Spitalli was also charged with aggravated kidnapping after officials said he kidnapped Huseynli's ex-girlfriend, 28-year-old Kristina Baltrimaviciene. Officials: Darien Man Charged with Murder, Kidnapping

A Darien man was charged with first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping following the murder, which the State's Attorney's Office said took place on Friday in Darien.

A Darien man has been charged with first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping after DuPage County officials said he killed one person and then kidnapped a woman at knifepoint Friday.  Joseph Spitalli, 34, of 7529 Country Lane in Darien, was taken into custody Sunday and charged with murder in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Teymur Huseynli. Spitalli was also charged with aggravated kidnapping after officials said he kidnapped Huseynli's girlfriend. Darien police responded at 12:25 a.m. Friday to a battery call on Wildwood Court in Darien, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney's press release. They found Huseynli dead on the lawn of an apparent knife wound.  Officials aren't releasing any other information at this time. …

One Year Later: Case Against Accused O'Laughlin Murderer Progresses Slowly

John L. Wilson, Jr.,  the man charged with the brutal murder of 14-year-old Lyons Township freshman Kelli O'Laughlin, is scheduled to appear in court next month for a status hearing. The case against the Chicago man, who had been out on parole at the time he burglarized the teen's Indian Head Park home, has progressed slowly.  Wilson was taken into custody on November 2, 2011, six days after prosecutors say he stabbed the teen to death. Shackled Drew Peterson Taken to See Dead Mother at Funeral Home

Drew Peterson got 15 minutes with his mother's body.

Will County Sheriff's deputies escorted a shackled Drew Peterson to a Darien funeral home to see his mother's body for a last time, a source said. Peterson had a brief visit with his deceased mother Thursday afternoon before he was returned to the Will County jail, where he has been locked up for the last three and a half years, the source said. Peterson was at Modell Funeral Home in Darien for about 15 minutes, the source said. Another source said Peterson was in tears while at the funeral home and under guard by several sheriff's deputies. Drew Peterson's Mother Dies, Visitation in Darien Thursday

The mother of the former Bolingbrook police officer, convicted of killing his third wife, passed away this week.

Drew Peterson's mother died a month and two days after her son was convicted of murder. Betty Morphey, 84, never attended a single day of her son's five-week murder trial. She also never visited Peterson in the three and a half years he has been locked up in the Will County jail. Morphey suffered from severe dementia, according to a source close to the family. Morphey was married to Peterson's father, Donald Peterson, for 38 years. When her husband died she married Albert Morphey, Donald Peterson's boss at Northern Illinois Gas Company. One of Albert Morphey's sons, Thomas Morphey, has said he helped Peterson carry a blue barrel containing the dead body of Peterson's fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, out of his house. Status Update: Case Continued Against Man Charged With Murdering His Father

Woodridge resident Yashesh Desai, charged with using a weed trimmer to kill his father, is scheduled to return to court in October.

The case against a Woodridge man charged with murdering his father has been continued until October. Woodridge resident Yashesh Desai made a brief appearance in front of DuPage County Court Judge Robert Kleeman on Wednesday. At the state's request, a psychiatrist was to submit a report regarding Desai's sanity. Due to scheduling conflicts, however, the psychiatrist has requested an additional three weeks to prepare the reports. The judge continued Desai's case for four weeks, at which point each side will determine how it wants to proceed. The last two witnesses in the Drew Peterson murder trial were called Thursday, and one of them was asked about "Girls Gone Wild."

Testimony in the Drew Peterson murder trial wrapped up Thursday with a pair of doctors taking the witness stand and one of them having to answer questions about a cable television producer supposedly trying to sell an autopsy video to Girls Gone Wild.. Celebrity medical examiner Michael Baden was grilled about Fox News producer Steph Watts allegedly looking to sell footage of the autopsy performed on Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio.
