Woodridge Rotary Club Help 'Kids Around the World'
The Woodridge Rotary Club spent hours to help the non-profit provide playground equipment to developing countries where it is not normally found.
On August 28, Woodridge Rotary Club members spent six hours volunteering to help the Woodridge Park District and a Rockford-based non-profit called Kids Around the World. Playground equipment standards are so stringent in the U.S. that playground equipment must be replaced and updated periodically in public parks. The playground at Echo Point Park was slated for replacement. Members of the Rotary Club, the park district and the Kids Around the World organization spent a hot, dirty, but very productive morning donating time to take down the equipment and get it loaded onto a truck to Rockford where the equipment will be fixed.
