President Barack Obama on Friday issued a Disaster Declaration for DuPage County, along with several other counties in Illinois. Residents affected by the recent flooding may now apply for assistance online at www.disasterassistance.gov, or by calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362). Key federal disaster aid programs can be made available as needed and warranted under the disaster declaration issued for Illinois. About 15 minutes after the polls closed, news media sources put Illinois in the Obama column, giving the president 20 electoral votes.
President Barack Obama won Illinois’ 20 electoral votes on Tuesday, defeating Republican Mitt Romney. Illinois, of course, was never in play. The only visit the president made to his home state late in the campaign came Oct. 25, when he returned to the South Side to cast an early ballot at the Martin Luther King Community Center. Obama is the first president to ever vote early in a presidential election. The Wall St. Journal and the Associated Press called the state about 15 minutes after the polls closed. Does the presidential hopeful's wife represent modern America?
It was pretty mild as far as political blunders go. After having read the entire transcript, I thought the statement was awkward, but not offensive. Of course, had I been Ann Romney, I may feel differently. Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen took a big swat at Ann Romney. Despite Ann's well-bankrolled lifestyle, she has five sons. So unless she had a battalion of nannies and staff, the woman must have worked very hard being a mom. There is no doubt that Rosen was wrong and stuck her foot in her mouth when she said Romney never worked a day in her life. The next sentences of Rosen's statement softened the blow.
