The Woodridge ex-cop who plead guilty in April of stealing $30,000 from fundraisers for families of fallen officers has been released from DuPage County jail. During a sentencing hearing Thursday, the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office asked Judge Kathryn Creswell for Scott Webb, 40, of Romeoville, to serve six years in an Illinois Department of Corrections facility for thefts in 2009 and 2010 from C.O.P.S., or Concerns of Police Survivors. Creswell sentenced Webb to 180 days in DuPage County Jail. Since Webb has already spent 220 days in jail, he has served his sentence. He was expected to be released Thursday night. Scott Webb, 40, of Romeoville, plead guilty to one count of theft in DuPage County court Thursday. Although he will pay a total of $31,455 in restitution as part of the deal with prosecutors, he still faces the possibility of prison time when Judge Kathryn Creswell sentences him on May 24. Webb could receive probation or between three and seven years in prison. Jim Ryan, Webb’s attorney, said the full restitution will be paid at the sentencing hearing. It has nothing to do with the random amounts of money that showed up in his bank accounts right after C.O.P.S fundraisers ... or the fact that he ran away, and changed his name. So ... Scott pled guilty. To the Webb apologists that said "wait until the trial, we don't know all the facts" ... he's admitting he committed crimes. That's a fact ... he's admitting guilty. It's had nothing to do with being close minded, it has everything to do with wanting justice. It feels good knowing this scum will soon be in jail.
