Expect Wind Gusts Up to 40 MPH Tuesday, More to Come

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for our neck of the woods.

The National Weather Service-Chicago has issued a Special Weather Statement and a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the west suburbs, including Woodridge. The Special Weather Statement is for today (Tuesday, March 6) and warns of "wind gusts up to 40 mph this afternoon." The winds are south to southwest, and will come up quickly this morning across Northern Illinois. Sustained winds will reach 20 to 30 mph this afternoon. The 40 mph wind gusts "could make traveling in high-profile vehicles difficult, especially on east-west oriented roads." The gusts are supposed to subside a bit this evening but be back again Wednesday. The good news Wednesday is the high temperature is slated to get up to 62 degrees. Chicago area is under a high wind warning until 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

Winds are expected to be up to 60 mph through Tuesday and up to 50 mph through Wednesday night. Check out Woodridge Patch's footage of those winds in the Woodridge community.

No Major Storm Damage Reported in Woodridge So Far

Powerful storms that came through the western suburbs left 27,700 residents without power.

A high wind warning remains in effect for the area until 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Winds of 45 to 60 mph will gust through the area until 8 p.m., when winds are expected to decrease to between 35 and 45 mph. Winds of 50 mph are forecast to continue through Wednesday night. Damage No major damage has been reported in Woodridge from storms that began moving through the area overnight Monday, according to the village's Public Works Department and Police Department. Public Works crews were at work Tuesday morning "clearing inlets of debris to relieve standing water in the roadways," according to a release sent out by the village Tuesday afternoon.
