FRIDAY, APRIL 26 Randy Jones, 45, of the 600 block of West 45th Avenue, Gary, Ind., was charged with the following: Jones was arrested at about 7:25 p.m. following a traffic stop on the 2000 block of 75th Street, according to a police report. Police said Ryan Kujawa struck a vehicle, garage, traffic sign, street sign and two trees before overturning his car at 75th Street and Janes Avenue Dec. 21.
A Downers Grove teen was charged with a DUI after driving into a parked car, a home and more before rolling over the car late last month in Woodridge, police said. Ryan Kujawa, 18, of the 1200 block of Arnold Court in Downers Grove, was charged Dec. 27 with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle, following traffic incidents that occurred in Woodridge the evening of Friday, Dec. 21. According to Woodridge police, Kujawa was driving a 2008 Nissan on Friday, Dec. 21, when at approximately 11:10 p.m., he hit a parked car in the 6600 block of Oak Tree Trail in Woodridge, then hit the garage at the home. Woodridge officer was attempting to stop an alleged theft in progress at a Plainfield Jewel, according to officials.
A report of a man with a gun in the parking lot of a Plainfield Jewel-Osco store turned out to be an off-duty Woodridge police officer attempting to stop an apparent theft, police said Friday. Sgt. Mike Fisher said police got a call around 3:43 p.m. that a man with a gun was spotted in the parking lot of the Jewel at Route 59 and 135th Street. Five Plainfield squad cars responded to the call, Fisher said, blocking off the entrances to prevent the reported suspect from fleeing. “We came in a’blazing,” Fisher said, but police quickly learned the armed man was an off-duty Woodridge police officer who was trying to stop an apparent theft. In light of recent shootings in Colorado, law enforcement presence will be stepped up at local theaters where “The Dark Knight Rises” is being shown.
In the aftermath of today's deadly shooting inside an Aurora, Colorado movie theater that left as many as 12 dead and 50 wounded, police will be stepping up enforcement to help ensure the safety of local movie-goers attending screenings of "The Dark Knight Rises." The film was being shown at the movie theater in Colorado when the tragedy took place. “We will be directing our patrol resources toward all the local theaters,” said Deputy Chief Gina Grady of the Woodridge Police Department. “We have already had some inquiries from the public about this, and we are going to do what we can do to keep everyone safe.” Grady said local theaters will be one of the Woodridge Police Department’s primary patrol areas while “The Dark Knight Rises” is …

A 19-year-old man from Justice, IL, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
A 19-year-old man from Justice, IL, died Friday afternoon in west suburban Woodridge after his motorcycle struck a semi-tractor trailer, according to police. John Waksmundzki was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:27 p.m. near the intersection of 107th Street and Joliet Road in Woodridge, the Will County Coroner's Office reported. Woodridge Police spokeswoman Kate Andris said no details were immediately available on what caused the accident. DuPage County’s Felony Investigative Assistance Team was working Friday night to reconstruct the crash. “They are out there right now, and we should know more on Monday morning,” Andris said Friday night.

The incident took place Sept. 10 in the 1900 block of 75th Street.
Two men committed theft and disorderly conduct after dining at Pepe's Mexican Restaurant, 1999 75th St., according to Woodridge police. The two broke glasses and spat on other restaurant diners. They then left without paying their bill. The incident took place around 8 p.m. The two people are unknown and no charges have been filed. One man was described as tall and skinny, in his 40's with brown hair. The other was described as short to average height and chubby with brown hair.

Yashesh S. Desai of 3 Plover Court has been arrested in connection with the death of his father, Sanjiv J. Desai, police said.
Updated: 5:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 A judge granted the state's motion for an appointment of a clinical psychologist in Monday's bond court hearing for the Woodridge man whom police say killed his father with a weed trimmer. Yashesh S. Desai, 21, of 3 Plover Court, Woodridge, has been charged with first-degree murder. Desai's bond was set at $2 million during Monday's hearing, said DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin. Berlin said Yashesh Desai talked about Godzilla, X and Y chromosomes and "killing the retards" in statements to police. IPod, work bag, purse taken from three different cars, police say.
Three incidents of car burglary were reported in the last week, according to Woodridge police. The first took place on July 7 around 4 a.m. in the 6600 block of Greene Road. A thief shattered the rear passenger window and removed a work bag valued at $300. The second incident took place between 11 p.m. on July 9 and 2 a.m. on July 10 in the 8000 block of Westview Lane. An iPod was removed from a car. The third took place between 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of 75th Street. A thief smashed the driver’s side window of a car and removed a purse.
